About Basin PLAYS

Basin PLAYS Initiative

The Basin Physical Literacy and Youth Sport (PLAYS) Initiative supports sport organizations, schools, and active recreation programs to create safe, inclusive, and quality programs for children and youth to build the motivation, physical competence, knowledge, and confidence to participate in sport and active living.

Basin PLAYS's goals are to enhance Basin youth’s physical literacy and reduce barriers to access quality sport and active recreation experiences by:

• providing resources and grants to schools to enhance students’ physical literacy;

• reducing barriers and increasing access to sport, recreation, and physical literacy programs; and

• supporting a Basin culture that fosters active living through ongoing communication, collaboration, and awareness.

As a part of the Basin PLAYS Initiative Columbia Basin Trust has grants and programs to support organizations as they increase physical literacy with local youth. For all program details and application information visit the Basin PLAYS Initiative website.

Columbia Basin Trust

We take our lead from residents and communities. Whatever the situation calls for, we adapt our role: from providing resources, to bringing people together, to leading an entire initiative. The Trust is here to offer experience and support to all Basin residents.

While our range of services, programs, initiatives, and financial investments is extensive, our purpose is straightforward: we exist and act for the social, economic and environmental well-being of the Basin—now and for generations to come.

Columbia Basin Trust is here to support the ideas and efforts of the people in the Columbia Basin. To learn more, visit the Trust’s website.
