About Basin PLAYS

Basin Plays Hub

The Basin Physical Literacy and Youth Sport (PLAYS) Hub supports sports organizations, schools, and active recreation programs to create safe, inclusive, and quality programs for children and youth to build the motivation, physical competence, knowledge, and confidence to participate in sport and active living.

The website was originally created as an initiative of the Columbia Basin Trust after extensive engagement and consultation with Columbia Basin sector leaders.

The BasinPLAYS Hub is now operated by viaSport BC and will continue as a legacy to support sports organizations, schools, and active recreation programs in the region and across the province.

viaSport has partnered with the Trust on several initiatives to support quality sport and physical literacy programs across the Columbia Basin. Our organizations have built a strong working relationship and collaborate where there is alignment in our mandates.

viaSport BC took ownership of the website Jan 31, 2022 and continues to operate it in its current format to support the sport, education and recreation sectors.

viaSport BC

At viaSport, we believe that all British Columbians deserve equitable opportunities to develop and realize their potential through sport – as an athlete, coach, official or volunteer.

To grow participation, viaSport:

  • Leads social innovation with partners to research and pilot changes required to make sport more inclusive.
  • Emboldens and enables sport leader capacity through education, evaluation and standards.
  • Collaborates across sectors to leverage investment.

Is a society where people and communities are truly healthy, vibrant and connected because they value and participate in sport experiences that are safe, inclusive and meaningful.

Is to transform and scale the impact of sport.
